THAT REMINDS ME by DEREK OWUSU
A poetic, lyrical coming of age novel that deals with race, mother son relationships, foster care, mental illness and more.
It is written as a series of memories and it is up to the reader to decipher the poetic language. There were times when I didn’t know exactly what was going on, but I decided to trust the writer and simply enjoy his beautiful words and they led the way.
This year’s winner of the Desmond Elliot Prize and highly recommended by @bookbuddyreads; of course I was going to read it!
